Note
this pro wrestling article pertaining to WWE's premier
event, WrestleMania, starts with a female performers
name! That's how much the industry, and world in general
has changed.
We're
not going to get political or #metoo on you. Pro wrestling
is undergoing a resurgence in many parts of the globe
include the United States, Canada, Japan and even
down under in Australia (Melbourne is hotly rumoured
for a supershow in Melbourne late this year).
The
ladies are kicking ass, be it Becky Lynch 'The Las
Kicker', Rousey or Hart Dungeon survivor, Natalie
Neidhart (Natie sounds more feminine, which suits
this feline loving lady, who is quite the pur-fect
wrestling machine. Then there is the former Diva used
used to be known as Ric Flair's wrestling daughter.
Not any more, she is Charlotte Flair, and Ms Flair
is all woman.
Then there's other world class women wrestler Bayley,
Sasha Banks, Mickie James, Alexa Bliss, Mandy Rose,
Sonya Deville and so the list goes on. Oh, Asuka -The
Empress of Tomorrow.
See
what's happened here... we started out with an article
on WrestleMania, and got stuck on the ladies - they
are truly amazing. Nothing against the ladies of the
past eras, greats such as Moolah, Mae Young, Leilani
Kai, The Jumping Bomb Angels, Bull Nakano, Malia Hosaka,
or former Dangerous Alliance member, Madusa, but you
get what where's saying - the ladies have turned it
up a notch, and if Rousey can remain injury and scandle
free she will be in for a killer 2018, be it with
or without the assistance of Dwyane 'The Rock' Johnson,
Brock Lesnar (former UFC champion) or others. The
ladies are taking a backseat to nobody.
Oh,
WrestleMania season also means we are coming up to
the annual WWE Hall of Fame ceremony. Who is going
to get the green light this year? Names being thrown
around include JEFF JARRETT (long time friend and
associate of BRIAN JAMES aka ROAD DOGG (who just happens
to be a WWE agent / producer). The Dudley Boyz (Bubba
Ray and D-Von) (Mark LoMonaco and Devon Hughes) are
going in, and Paul Heyman is the hot face to induct
them. Bill Goldberg and Ivory are also confirmed.
If
your a pro wrestling fan, hardcore or casual, at the
present the Road To WrestleMania is red hot, and one
may argue that it's already WrestleMania in the wrestling
world with all of the amazing action being delivered
from pro wrestling promotions the world over. The
WWE - New Japan "friendly war', that Vince McMahon
apparently signed off on has been great competition
to keep fans interested, and can only lead to more
dream matches and great business. Could be be just
a matter of time when fans are abuzz about the wrestling
war which may give the classic WWF - WCW 'Monday Night
Wars' a run for their money.
The
UFC / MMA influence on the WWE is always present and
the style is taught at the WWE Performance Centre,
as is the New Japan 'Strong Style' which Tiger Mask,
Dynamite Kid, Jushin 'Thunder' Liger and the late
Owen Hart and Chris Benoit helped develop and popularize.
The style is in safe hands with NAK ATTACK. The UK
/ European style is also looking great under The BRUISERWEIGHT
Pete Dunne, a throwback if their ever was, and the
comparisons to the living legend Steve Regal are well
deserved. We would like to see more Luche Libre style
thrown into the current offerings in the U.S and Australia.
Rest assured, its a matter or time, and the style
does get incorporated into the product from time to
time, usually without a Luchadore mask. As the world
gets smaller, offline and online, the merging of professional
wrestling styles have been quite the treat for fans.
Did
you hear... injures are a big part of pro wrestling.
Just ask the likes of Samoa Joe, who ironically ended
Tyson Kid's career a few years ago with his Muscle
Buster finisher. Legit tough guy wrestlers Cesaro
and Sheamus have also been working through injures
over the past year or two. Only the WWE doctors and
WWE need-to-know folks know the exact extent of their
injures, but being a wrestler is only going to be
a career option for those who have have a high pain
threshold. Wrestling legend, Mick Foley lost an ear
in a match with Vader in Germany, Stan Hansen broke
Bruno Sammartino's neck in a match that took place
in the legendary Madison Square Garden and Daniel
Bryan has suffered a number of concussions over the
years. Triple H blew a knee out years ago, Seth Rollins
had to undergo a knew reconstruction...There's 100s
more stories we could tell about the pain in the mat
game, but we're sure you get the point.
Fans,
keep writing to promoters and let them know what you
love about the product, as well as what you would
like to see change and improve. Fans are and have
always been a driving force behind what style of wrestling
is presented. We're talking to you and you, and you,
as Daniel Bryan and Hulk Hogan would say Brother.
To
be continued.

MMA
invasion into WWE. Rousey in. Could Lesnar be on the
way out, or is that rumor leverage for an extra WWE
pay rise?
Fans
are pumped for this years WrestleMania, and why not.
More
dream matches appear on the cards including:
AJ
Styles VS Nakamura
Roman
Reigns vs Brock Lesnar. Braun Strowman may factor
into the equation
The
Undertaker vs John Cena
Ronda
Rousey will be involved, be it tagging or against
Stephanie McMahon in some capacity
Dwayne
'The Rock' Johnson rumoured for an appearance
'Stone
Cold' Steve Austin rumoured for an appearance
Expect
one or two NXT surprises on the card ala Aleister
Black, Tino Sabbatelli and The Undisputed Era (Kyle
O'Reilly, Bobby Fish and Adam Cole)
'The
Bar' Cesaro and Sheamus always deliver expect matches,
as do The Uso's
Final's
of WWE Cruiserweight Challenge to take place at WrestleMania
Shield
members Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose will not be
overlooked, despite Roman Reigns dominating WWE social
media scores
Rey
Mysterio made a Royal Rumble appearance. Could he
be heading for WrestleMania?
Bobby
Roode: The Glorious One is one of the most solid to
great pro wrestlers of the modern era. The former
NXT champion and current WWE I/C champion is must
see. Book it Hunter.
Dolph
Ziggler often has the match of the night. Get him
in a match at WrestleMania and make the fans care.
One of the greatest in ring performers of all time,
and now one of the highest paid
Kevin
Owens and Sami Zayn. A fantastic tag team, and both
are wrestling machines. The WWE universe needs to
see them on the big stage
Elias
may be the sleeper talent of the WWE roster. He is
starting to fulfill his massive potential and them
some. A great in ring worker who oozes an amazing
charisma. Not bad on the guitar either, and what a
way with words. WrestleMania needs to Walk With Elias.
Expect the unexpected.
Finn
Bálor can and often does have match of the
night. Most fans would like to see 'The Demon' in
full flight at the show of shows. Who will bring out
the best in him? We will know soon. Bálor is
over with fans and WWE top management. Keep delivering
top matches and he will stay over for years just as
'Stone Cold' Steve Austin did.

More
facts from the wrestling world
In
decades gone by many female wrestlers were overlooked
by the WWF. They would include the likes of Australia's
Susan Sexton. The fighting felines have not always
been high on the WWE priority, but the are now.
Many
former WWF lady wrestlers have been able to rekindle
their relationship with the WWE powers that be. Names
like Madusa, Wendi Richter. By the way, Madusa was
acting on orders from Eric Bischoff when she notoriously
threw the WWE Diva's championship belt in a WCW trash
can. We thought we would just clear that up for you.
Former
WWF I/C and UFC champion, Ken Shamrock, remains interested
to return to the WWE. A match or even face off with
the likes of Brock Lesnar would be compelling. Shamrock's
best days may be behind them, but once a legend, always
a legend. Shamrock and his business manger Des. W
Woodruff have a great podcast show 'The World's Most
Dangerous Podcast' if you haven't checked it out yet.
WWE's
push of Japanese sensation Shinsuke Nakamura (set
to face AJ Styles at WrestleMania) may or may not
be related to the gaining in popularity of New Japan
Pro Wrestling, how recently toured Australia. The
WWE vs New Japan Pro Wrestling war is alive and well,
even if WWE see New Japan as little or no competition.
Maybe don't tell Chris Jericho that, who helped put
about an extra 15,000 or 20,000 bums in seats at WrestleDream
12, as well as a similar boost to NJPW World (New
Japan's online streaming product). See Jericho vs
Kenny Omega if you haven't already. Omega is not set
to battle Cody (Rhodes) at their next supershow.
WWE
is continuing to scout talent from the wrestling world.
You can bet that WWE will be getting reports from
the recent New Japan Pro Wrestling Australian tour.
Progress Wrestling is also set to tour Australia,
with a big show at The Star Sydney booked in. The
Star used to be known as Star City Casino. I guess
pro wrestling and gambling mix.
WWE
top brass Vince McMahon has stepped back from NXT
who Triple H is now spearheading. WWE 205 (the Cruiserweight
Division) is also understood to be largely under Triple
H's control, with former Impact Wrestling talent,
Drake Maverick acting as the General Manager.
There's
a question over what's going to happen with the status
of the Andre The Giant Battle Royal. Little doubt
that Braun Strowman would win this in a real fight,
or perhaps Lesnar or Angle, but you get the point.
Maybe Hogan could be thrown into the mix, which would
also mask his old style brawling style, and could
play into his strengths such as working the crowd,
throwing punches and reverting back to the good old
clothesline - still a favorite with today's new breed
of professional wrestlers.
The
WWE continues to build upon it's strong following
in Australia, further boosted along by the renewal
of the contract with Channel Nine (9GO!) which broadcasts
a 1 hour version of RAW and SmackDown. This has helped
boost WWE subscriber numbers in Australia, as well
as get a closer foot into the pop culture landscape.
Rob
Gronkowski remains of interest to the WWE powers that
be. Star power plus athletic ability

WrestleMania
34 will take place Sunday, April 8, 2018, at the
Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans

Roman
Reigns doesn't need cousin 'The Rock' to get over,
but it sure caused a stir when they appeared together.
Reigns is his own man. Reigns went on record with
'It's My Yard Now'

WrestleMania:
The showcase of the immortals. Jim Ross used to say
'The granddaddy of them all'. Times change in and
around the professional wrestling aka sports entertainment
biz

Jimmy
Hart and Hulk Hogan. WCW promotion. A Hogan return
to WWE at WrestleMania remains a hot rumor. Triple
H nor Vince McMahon have confirmed. Fans and wrestlers
want him back. Mark Henry advises good, as long as
he apologizes to all African - American wrestlers
with the WWE.
