Well, turbulent times in the world often means censorship comes under the spotlight. Were finding this at the moment The problem is its misplaced. What's happening in around 70 to 80 percent of all official government censorship is now applied to sexual media. It's not applied to....

About EROS

(full credit to the EROS Association for this wording, which is used to compliment the interview with EROS Media Director, Robbie Swan).

Established in 1992, the Eros Foundation has developed an international reputation for its lobbying efforts. It has grown to represent nearly 400 business members from all areas of the Australian adult industry - chocolate body paint manufacturers, phone line operators, video duplication warehouses, contact magazines and more. Eros also has hundreds of individual members of the public who are interested in sex and censorship.

The aim of the Foundation is to encourage a heightened understanding of the adult industry and to promote the rights of those working in and around the adult industry - subject to adequate safeguards for minors. Our day-to-day business has expanded from traditional parliamentary lobbying to publishing a monthly journal called Eros, running Eros Seminars, coordinating regular state trader meetings and organising a nightly news and information service for our members.

The Eros Foundation is entirely funded by subscriptions from our members. The motivation for everything Eros does is to improve the quality of life for those involved in and around the adult industry. Membership is open to all who support the Foundation's aims and objectives.

About Robbie Swan (Media Director)

(full credit to the EROS Association for this wording, which is used to compliment the interview with , Robbie Swan).

Robbie Swan is the media director at Eros. Between 1992-1998 he was Eros' chief political lobbyist and campaign manager. During that period he worked closely with political advisors from across the spectrum to accept logical perspectives on Australia's adult industry rather than the moralistic policies of the church and moral's groups. He was well known for his stouches with arch conservative Senator Brian Harradine, who frequently accused him of being a transvestite in Senate Committees. Prior to his association with Eros he was the editor of the political humour and satire magazine, Matilda; the eco-magazine, Simply Living and the women-friendly erotic journal, Ecstasy. He has also worked with anti-censorship campaigners Phillip Adams and Richard Neville. In the early 1990s he ran a lobbying campaign on behalf of the Adult Video Industry Association.

ELECTRONIC MONITORING IN THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM

From: Australian Institute of Criminology
The use of electronic monitoring has the potential to improve the cost-effectiveness of correctional programs, provide enhanced opportunities for offender rehabilitation and extend the range of
sentences available to the courts. However, despite the fact that electronic monitoring has been in use for at least two decades, there are many legal, ethical and practical issues to resolve. Posted

X-RATED FILMS AND THE REGULATION OF SEXUALLY EXPLICIT MATERIAL

From: Research Service, Parliament of New South Wales
In June 2002 the NSW Legislative Council Standing Committee on Social Issues released the report of its inquiry into the Classification (Publications, Films and Computer Games) Enforcement Amendment Bill 2001, recommending that the Attorney-General consider establishing a licensing scheme to allow controlled premises to sell X-rated material in NSW or taking more enforcement action against breaches of the legislation. On 30 April 2003 a notice of motion was moved in the Legislative Council that leave be given for a private members’ bill to remove the prohibition on the sale of films classified ‘X’, and for other purposes. These developments serve as the basis for this paper.
