Outback
Jack
Peter
Stilsbury is a professional wrestler, best known
for his appearances in the World Wrestling Federation
as Outback Jack, a West Australian bushman arriving
to America to compete in the WWF. His LJN Wrestling
Superstars biography card stated the following
about Outback Jack : “A Native of Humpty
Doo in the Northern
Territory, Jack spent many years in the company
of a tribe of Aborigines.
These natives taught him many basic survival skills
which have become very important to Jack and he
now uses them to his advantage in the ring. He
is known as a tough but fair man and he fears
nothing, not even the dreaded saltwater crocodile.”
Outback Jack started his career in Australia wrestling
as "The Mercenary" Sgt. Green and soon
began touring in Canada with several promotions
including Stu Hart's Stampede Wrestling. He was
brought into the WWF in the mid 80's in response
to the mainstream popularity at the time of the
Australian film Crocodile Dundee. He appeared
in several vignettes hyping his debut by showing
Jack in the wilds of the Australian Outback, drinking
beer with cows, and came down to the ring to the
famous theme song by Rolf Harris, "Tie Me
Kangaroo Down, Sport". His unique finisher
The Boomerang
(Enzui Lariat) was used to finish off many enchancment
talent wrestlers such as Jose Estrada, Steve Lombardi,
Barry O, Barry Horowitz and "Iron" Mike
Sharpe. But he was quickly jobbed out to high
level WWF superstars such as Ted DiBiase and Rick
Rude; so Outback Jack left the company after only
a brief tenure; his only notable feuds were with
Frenchy Martin and Killer Kahn and he made one
appearance on interview segment The Snake Pit
with Jake
Roberts.
Although
his WWF career was brief, Outback Jack did have
an LJN Wrestling Superstars action figure produced
and distributed worldwide. In recent years Outback
Jack has been involved in Highland Games Caber
Tossing Events in Florida. (Credit:
