The Butterfly Foundation

The Butterfly Foundation

The Butterfly Foundation was founded in August 2002 by Claire Vickery who found many 'gaps' in the public health system for those suffering from eating disorders. The Foundation is a community based charitable organisation that supports eating disorder sufferers and their carers through direct financial relief, advocacy and lobbying, awareness campaigns, health promotion and early intervention work and professional training in primary and secondary schools.

The granting of tax deductible status as a Public Benevolent Institution by the Australian Tax Office in January 2003 illustrates the increasing awareness within the community that eating disorders are a growing problem affecting people of all ages, gender, and across society in need of urgent reform.

The latest supremely fit couple on the social circuit is none other than The Biggest Loser trainer, Shannan Ponton and bikini model Jaime Wright. "It's really early days though," Wright cautioned.

"We're just hanging out and enjoying each other's company. He is a lovely man and this is something rare on the Sydney social circuit.''

The two were outed at the recent launch of the Underbelly DVD and then they next embarked on a shopping expedition together, with Wright helping her man find an outfit suitable for the Logies.

"I had hoped that Shannan would help me with an event I am holding on Wednesday,'' said Wright, who rose to fame when Paris Hilton made her the face of Bondi Blonde beer.

"But unfortunately he has to go to Bali next week.''

This is a bad move for Ponton, who will not be helping Wright celebrate her 28th birthday at the Butterfly Foundation charity event that she is holding at Ravesis to raise public awareness of eating disorders.

Among those reportedly supporting the sometime shoe queen on the night are Gracie Otto, Jordan Loukas, Mark Goldman and Jason Dundas.

Let's hope that Shannon returns from Bali with a pretty good birthday gift to make up for his glaring absence.
