AFC calls for Documentary Production Funding Submissions

The Australian Film Commission (AFC) has issued a call for applications to Strand N - Documentary Production Strand - which offers up to $85,000 for one-off documentaries and up to $100,000 for series. Strand N provides professional development opportunities for documentary practitioners through the production or post-production of outstanding projects.

The next round for Strand N projects will close on Friday 18 June 2004.

Eligible applicants are individual producer/directors or teams where both the producer and director have at least one produced documentary credit or two non-student short film credits or other substantial drama credits.

Assessment focuses on the potential for the production to enhance career opportunities and assist practitioners to gain experience relevant to the industry. Experienced filmmakers must provide a clear argument for professional development opportunities.

Co-financing with other agencies, broadcasters and/or investors is encouraged. Where available, written expressions of interest or commitment from any broadcaster, distributor or other source of finance is advised. For series this is an essential requirement.

Strand J - Seed funding - Friday 2 July
Strand K - Project Development - Friday 2 July
Strand L - Shooting Time Critical Material - Friday 2 July

The AFC Funding Guidelines with deadlines for all other Strands will be published and available through the AFC or online on 1 July 2004.
