“INNOCENTLY
GUILTY” is Essan’s second film and it is
a non-budget film.
About
the film
“INNOCENTLY
GUILTY” highlights the effect of media particularly
Television in the creation of racial prejudice.
The
film relies mostly upon powerful imagery and symbolism
to state its message and addresses issues such as
“September the 11th, the War in Iraq and Osama
Bin Laden”.
It
also draws attention to the history of racial prejudice
that Hollywood promoted since the beginning of the
silent films and shows that people with dark skin
or Middle East backgrounds are ‘bad’ people.
The
films draws a suggestion about the myth of the image
of Jesus being a blond man with blue eyes, while the
fact is he came from the Middle East; and about the
Klu Klux Klan “KKK.”.
Innocently
Guilty Synopsis
A
young girl has fallen under the spell of the media’s
portrayal of dark people as possible terrorists. She
is taken on a journey where she finds things are not
as they appear…
The
Imagery of the film
“INNOCENTLY
GUILTY”. shows three stages in history:
The
first section is set in current time, as portrayed
by the choice of music, costumes, interior of the
café and the artwork on the walls.
The
second stage is the 1920’s and shows the style,
fashion and setting in the black and white section
of the film.
The
third section is the medieval feel of the film, which
is introduced in the dream sequence shown by her costume,
setting and music.

It
is a story about Success, Love, Betrayal, Disappointment,
Pain, Death and Family relationships.

The
Message’s Synopsis
Essan
is a struggling artist who believes in himself and
his talent but for a long time felt that he was going
nowhere. One day he comes back home and finds two
letters in the mail box; the first from his agent
in the USA telling him the news that he has been waiting
for most of his life. He jumps for joy and the first
thing he thinks of is calling his lover and telling
him the good news and sharing his dreams and plans
with him. But what he did not take into account is
what his lover would say. But that’s not all,
the story takes on a harder edge when he opens the
second letter and reads it….
With
all this news he received in a matter of minutes the
world around him turns upside down and he feels lost.
But
a MESSAGE comes to him from an unexpected guest. The
MESSAGE is stronger and more significant, which advises
him to take a direction that makes the audience scream
with happiness….!

French style of ‘Old films’.
