Merelyplayers - Bringing All Creatives Together

Merelyplayers - Bringing All Creatives Together

'Birth, Death and Everything Between'

Merelyplayers, Sydney's most exciting and ambitious Creative Production Company, will be opening its inaugural show 'Birth, Death and Everything Between' at the famous TAP Gallery, on Thursday 18th of March 2004.

This extraordinary show combines a visual art exhibition and a theatrical production featuring an ingenious pastiche of dramatic and comic monologues, song, poetry and literature: guiding the audience through the cycle of life.

'Birth Death and Everything Between' artfully brings all visual art and theatrical works together, chronologically charting the 9 major stages of life:

Ø Birth
Ø Childhood
Ø Teens
Ø First Love
Ø Marriage and Family
Ø Mid-life
Ø Retirement
Ø Illness and Frailty
Ø Death

The fantastic theatre production features a collection of monologues, song and poetry: including works taken from Foetal Attraction by Australia's Kathy Lette and Melbourne's author Helen Garner's 'Our Mother's Flood'. Thrown into this eclectic mix is a song by Eric Idle of Monty Python fame, and WH Auden's famous 'Funeral Blues' which most recently featured in the feature film 'Four Weddings and a Funeral'.

In keeping with merelyplayers strong principles to support Australian artists, 'Birth Death and Everything Between' also features dynamic, original and so far un-published works by new Australian writers: Vince Melton, Brett Maverix and Alexia McIlroy-Kelly.

Directed by merelyplayers' artistic director Bryan Cutts, 'Birth, Death and Everything Between' features an eclectic cast: Brett Maverix, Rachel McNamara, Cass Cummerford, Kate Lascelles, Malcolm Forbes, Mary-Anne Halpin, Felicity Ward and Peter McAllum.
