since 2001; and which one could get loans on against

Man: It's not exactly the WWF - MTV Rock 'N Roll Wrestling
connection from circa 1985 when Hulk Hogan, Mr T,
Rowdy Roddy Piper, Cyndi Lauper, Wendi Richter, Dave
Wolff and friends set the pop culture and pro wrestling
world on fire, but that NWA and Smashing Pumpkins
does offer a wrestling and music alternative, so you
have to give Mr Corgan and crew credit for achieving
what most could only dream off. The pro wrestling
world is extremely competitive. Concepts (and "angles")
can be hit and miss, especially in the often ultra
sensative entertainment and showbiz landscape that
exists today. Some parallels could be drawn to the
original Extreme Championship Wrestling situation
circa 1993. However ECW's Paul Heyman apparently never
paid for music rights! ECW was small-ish also, but
a cult following built. Eventually ECW was part funded
by WWE's (then WWF) Vince McMahon. You read correctly.
In January 2003 the WWE purchased ECW. ECW were innovators,
edgy, cool and the talk of the wrestling world. We
used to being their tapes into Australia to copy,
trade and sell! ECW burnt through a lot of cash and
created a lot of headaches - such is the nature of
pro wrestling and the showbiz industry in general.
Some of the performers / wrestlers / talent were not
so easy to manage either, as one may imagine. The
best talent was eventually cherry-picked by either
WCW, WWE or both. Steve Austin was the pick of the
little. Yep, "Stone Cold" Steve Austin,
but he was a rare cat who was let of the leash and
flourished - eventually.
Gone,
but not forgotten - the legend of ECW lives on, and
Paul Heyman today is a major player in WWE, both behind
the scences and on camera, but you likely knew that
part of the puzzle already.
Mr
Corgan, currrent NWA champion EC3 and crew remain
keen and steadfast in growing the NWA brand, but it's
going to be an uphill battle Many types of entertainment
and pro sports enterprises are, and Corgan knew the
odds and hard yakka ahead of him when he got into
showbiz and later the wrestling industry way back
when. It's likely that in the future there will be
books and perhaps a doco or even a movie about the
amazing life of Mr Corgan and his Smashing Pumpkins
and associated enterprises. Corgan is a dreamer, a
doer and an achiever, and he doen't quite have the
same chequebook of an AEW's Tony Khan or WWE's/TKO
Group's Nick Khan and co. Again, give Corgan and his
NWA credit and we will be cheering them on in their
ongoing struggle to beat the odds. NWA, NWA, NWA!
