Pro Wrestling Media War Afoot In Australia

What Are The Rules; No Holds Barred?!

TKO including WWE vs FOX And The Hound?

WWE New Tag Team Partner Is Netflix

WWE Elimination Chamber at Optus Stadium, Perth, West Australia February 24.

World's leading pro wrestling promotion and content creator/producer WWE is due to bodyslam down under Australia at the end of the month however there may be a problem that requires fixing. Maybe a special ref could be in order! Don't want to involve the Australian government any more than at the basic level right?!

Don't worry fight fans of the performance art genre. It's not an in-ring problem, but on the business side of things as TKO has announced its new streaming partner for numerous countries (5 +) will be Netlix (but Aussie's get their WWE Raw (and SmackDown) via The Foxtel Group (Foxtel, BINGE or Kayo Sports).

Confussed already? That's what we thought. The bean counters don't want to be confussed any futher, as they already have a lot of files to go though from decades gone past. If you know, you know, as UFC top brass Dana White is known to say. Or, how about on a need to know basis. WWE admin is extremly busy at present, and we're not going to repeat the most serious global headlines here.

Last week world's leading streaming company Netflix announced a $5 billion deal with the pro wrestling king of of the mountain, advising it had snatched (legally) the exclusive rights to WWE’s flagship show, Monday Night Raw, in the USA, Canada, UK, and Latin America, from January 2025.

In a statement issued to all and sundry , TKO Group (parent of WWE), confirmed that Netflix will “become the home for all WWE shows and specials outside the US as available, inclusive of Raw and WWE’s other weekly shows – SmackDown and NXT – as well as the company’s Premium Live Events”, throwing in “additional countries and regions” will be “added over time”. How long is piece or string or a bullrope in a match? Hardcores flashback to the late, great, Dusty Rhodes and Terry Funk.

Foxtel Group’s “multi-year partnership” with WWE, which was inked in 2022, was understood to mean that Aussie WWE fans would not be impacted by the news, that has now changed.

At time of publication Netflix Oz has not confirmed when the change-over/migration the streaming service will take place. That's akin to changing tag team partners!

Australia based WWE fans can still sleep well knowing WWE is on the way and that one way or another they will continue to get their RAW and SmackDown.

Late last year FOX's Lachlan Murdoch did make a statement regarding FOX not going to renew WWE media rights, and so WWE became pro active in securing another partner and obviously hit the jackpot on a global scale. Pro wrestling challenger brand has been having talks with WBS. But, will rising tides lift all boats? Media execs are always crunching numbers and look at things such as ratings and return on investment.

The Netflix b2b nears closer to a final conclusion for punters as WWE prepares to wow Perth at the end of the month. Elimination Chamber is the premium live event special leading right into WrestleMania season.

Is pro wrestling real? Stupid question. Are movies real? When stuntmen and stunt women perform is that real? When MMA (mixed martial artists) get hurt in sparring and training sessions before stepping in an UFC Octagon or the like, is that real?! There are rules of engagement and every industry has its secrets. A number of WWE wrestlers are currently recoving from injuries endured in the heat of battle. Some keep on stepping in the squared circle, while others are rehabbing away from the ring and other roster members from the prime WWE rooster as well as WWE NXT step up. Superstars of today, legends of tomorrow.

There's only one WWE and its the hottest ticket in town. WWE is the star, and the world beater has a stacked roster of stars. Together they may just present the greatest show on earth. P. T. Barnum would be proud and WWE's Triple H continues to take the business of show business to the next level. Game On for Aussies and sports entertainment fans the world over.
