Recent reports of WWE being interested in bringing back former NXT star Dexter Lumis to the company have come to the fore.

Triple H took over the reins as Head of Creative of WWE a few weeks from Vince McMahon and has since brought in several released stars. The first to return was Dakota Kai, who came back alongside Bayley and Iyo Sky at SummerSlam. Karrion Kross and his on-screen valet Scarlett Bordeaux also returned as they confronted Roman Reigns on the latest episode of SmackDown.

According to a report from Fightful, another former NXT star is also likely to return. Dexter Lumis is among the names that have been discussed internally to be rehired by the company. The report mentions that people within the company were planning to get in contact with Lumis last week to discuss a possible return.

Dexter Lumis was released alongside multiple NXT talent last April. According to reports, he was initially not on the release list, which meant the company wasn't initially planning to let him go.

Lumis has made multiple indie appearances under the ring name Samuel Shaw since his departure.

Triple H possibly not slowing down on WWE recruitment after taking over creative

After becoming the new Head of Creative, The Cerebral Assassin didn't waste any time re-signing Dakota Kai, calling up Iyo Sky, and bringing back Karrion Kross and Scarlett.

It has also been reported that the company is interested in bringing back former NXT Champion Johnny Gargano. Sasha Banks and Naomi are also rumored to be returning soon.

Fightful Select also reported that WWE is looking to bring in more former talent, with the company entering into a "feeling out process." The belief is that Triple H isn't slowing down as far as bringing in more talent, as he wants to bolster the depth of the roster.

The Game also has big plans for several current stars, as T-BAR is reportedly set to be repackaged following a disappointing run on the main roster. He competed in the black and gold era of NXT as Dominik Dijakovic and is likely to return to his old moniker.

 

 

Karrion Kross

Doomsday has returned and SmackDown is on notice.

The sight of Karrion Kross’ physique — a hulking 6-foot-4, 265 pounds — and the unbridled intensity in his eyes is enough on its own to inspire fear in opponents. Consider also his unique combination of precision and abject ruthlessness, and it becomes clear that anyone stepping in the ring with Kross is in immediate danger.

A master of catch wrestling and sambo, Kross has done battle around the world. He boasts an array of devastating suplexes, including his dreaded Doomsday Saito, performed with reckless intent. And if that’s not enough, he’s more than happy to put opponents to sleep with the Kross Jacket.

Making a name for himself in NXT, Kross brought a wave of swift and decisive destruction, destroying opponents left, as Scarlett foretold the prophecy of his rise to the NXT Championship.

Now Kross & Scarlett have come calling once again, as the towering Superstar targeted the biggest and baddest on the block with an attack on Drew McIntyre that put Roman Reigns on notice.

No matter where the time is told, in the end, everyone paid the toll. Tick tock.

WWE Raw Ratings Dip For Labor Day, But See A Boost From A Year Back

WWE Clash At The Castle didn't rope any added viewers in for the Labor Day edition of "WWE Raw", but all hope was not lost for WWE on Monday. Wrestlenomics released the viewership information for Labor Day programming and the September 7 episode of "Raw" was watched by 2,094,000 average viewers, a 3% decrease from the Monday previous. The key demographic saw a slight drop with 757,000 average viewers, a 2% difference totaling out to a 0.58 18-49 rating. "Raw" ranked at #2 in cable originals for the 18-49 demographic and #3 in the broadcast primetime category, behind "The Bachelorette" on ABC (0.73 18-49 rating) and NCAA Football on ESPN (1.36 18-49 rating).

The big positive for "Raw" however is how much of a difference a year makes. Last year's Labor Day episode had a total viewership of 1,849,000 making this week's "Raw" up 12% in viewership.  The same can be said for the key demographic, as last year's "Raw" had a 0.52 18-49 rating, 10% less than this week.

"WWE Raw" did have the reported return of Braun Strowman, who ran through the brand's tag division. Fans also saw the "reinvention" of Dominik Mysterio, as Rhea Ripley of The Judgement Day made Rey Mysterio's son a "man." Dominik also helped Damian Priest defeat his dad in singles action and the main event had The Miz challenging Bobby Lashley for the United States Championship inside of a steel cage. Miz made an effort to escape the cage, but his descent was thwarted when he saw Dexter Lumis waiting for him underneath the ring apron.

Report: AEW Members Suspended After ‘All Out’ Altercation - 7th September 2022

SI.com’s Week in Wrestling is published every week and provides beneath the surface coverage of the business of pro wrestling.

The All Out press conference revealed one of the dirtiest secrets in pro wrestling. From time to time, what happens behind the curtain is more fascinating than what takes place in the ring.

That was the case as Sunday night moved to Monday morning. CM Punk spoke at the post-match press conference and took a flamethrower to the AEW locker room, laying into fellow wrestlers, specifically Hangman Page, the company’s executive vice presidents—who are Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks’ Matt and Nick Jackson—as well as Colt Cabana. The focus of the press conference should have been on the stunning return of MJF, but that major plot line became nearly nonexistent as Punk went entirely off-script in his critiques.

Once Punk exited the press room, he exchanged words in a locker room with Omega and the Bucks, which led to a physical altercation. Punishment for that backstage fight, Sports Illustrated has learned, will include suspensions for every person involved. The list of those receiving suspensions includes Omega, Matt and Nick Jackson, Pat Buck, Christopher Daniels, Michael Nakazawa and Brandon Cutler. Multiple sources have shared that Punk and Ace Steel will either be among those suspended, or will no longer be with the company by the end of Wednesday. Punk met with AEW owner Tony Khan on Tuesday, so the two had an opportunity to discuss how that exit could be handled.

Per sources, an external third-party investigation will be conducted. Page had already left the building, Sports Illustrated learned, which explains his absence from the altercation.

Punk’s fury was ignited during the press conference when he made mention of former friend Cabana. Rumors have circulated that Punk had Cabana moved to Ring of Honor, and Punk clearly believes that those rumors emanated from leaks within the company, possibly even from Omega and the Bucks. Punk vehemently denied involvement in any facet of Cabana’s career, and that topic of discussion set him off.

All this occurred at the press conference where Punk sat beside Khan. It was an awkward, uncomfortable and unprofessional scene. Punk is AEW world champion, which adds another layer to this conundrum. The Bucks and Omega are the inaugural world trios champions.

Remarkably, there could still be a positive outcome if Punk and FTR engage in a heated feud with Omega and the Bucks. Punk mentioned to SI two weeks ago that he is in AEW to sell tickets and drive ratings. Real-life strife sells in this industry, especially when harnessed in the right manner—but sources from close to AEW indicated a story line is not going to come out of this situation.

Khan is CEO, GM and head of creative. This incident highlights AEW’s major need to delegate. Overseeing a wrestling company is not a one-man show, and not even Vince McMahon at the peak of his power in WWE ever pretended to be that. McMahon surrounded himself with the best minds in wrestling and put them in key roles, as with Pat Patterson, Jim Ross, Jim Barnett, JJ Dillon, Gorilla Monsoon and Arnold Skaaland. While he signed off on all major decisions, it was never just McMahon behind the scenes managing it all. Yes, McMahon may have been the one to receive the praise and recognition, but WWE’s success under his leadership was the result of a wide range of contributions. AEW’s lack of experience in executive leadership plays a role in these issues. The company possesses a first-rate, world-class roster, yet far less experience in the front office.

WWE also plays a role in all of this. As Khan noted during the press conference, All Out did well commercially, but not to the point where it set any company records. That is largely because WWE strategically ran a must-see event the day before in Clash at the Castle, as well as an NXT special in War of the Worlds only hours before AEW started its All Out pay-per-view.

For WWE, that All Out press conference will undoubtedly be used by newly appointed chief content officer Paul Levesque as their newest recruitment play. Levesque is following a wrestling blueprint created by McMahon in the 1980’s. While McMahon had distanced himself from it, Levesque is back to signing all the top available talent.

Under Levesque, there is a robust new wave of recruitment. What happens if multiple talent in AEW attempt to leverage their releases? That could be very destabilizing, meaning it will likely be a point of emphasis from WWE. AEW built so much of their brand as a contrast to McMahon’s poor booking and lackluster presentation of beloved talent. Yet that is now evolving, as WWE has quickly strengthened its storylines since Levesque took control of creative.

In the shadow of all this are the expiring television rights deals for AEW and WWE. Based on their ratings, AEW should be in a position to receive a significant increase in their rights fees when the current deal with WarnerBrothers/Discovery expires at the end of 2024. But WarnerMedia merged with Discovery, Inc., forming Warner Bros. Discovery, and the marketplace is unsure of their current strategy, creating question marks around AEW’s future. WWE also has a need for new network rights deals, as existing agreements with NBCUniversal and Fox only run through the end of September ’24. Weakening AEW while further solidifying their own brand is, undoubtedly, WWE’s objective.

For AEW, this is the wrong time for chaos. The company needs to tighten up its internal affairs, as the pro wrestling industry is a far stronger place with two major companies instead of one overwhelming monopoly.

Broadcasting

Broadcasting is the distribution of audio or video content to a dispersed audience via any electronic mass communications medium, but typically one using the electromagnetic spectrum (radio waves), in a one-to-many model. Broadcasting began with AM radio, which came into popular use around 1920 with the spread of vacuum tube radio transmitters and receivers. Before this, all forms of electronic communication (early radio, telephone, and telegraph) were one-to-one, with the message intended for a single recipient. The term broadcasting evolved from its use as the agricultural method of sowing seeds in a field by casting them broadly about.] It was later adopted for describing the widespread distribution of information by printed materials] or by telegraph. Examples applying it to "one-to-many" radio transmissions of an individual station to multiple listeners appeared as early as 1898.

Over the air broadcasting is usually associated with radio and television, though more recently, both radio and television transmissions have begun to be distributed by cable (cable television). The receiving parties may include the general public or a relatively small subset; the point is that anyone with the appropriate receiving technology and equipment (e.g., a radio or television set) can receive the signal. The field of broadcasting includes both government-managed services such as public radio, community radio and public television, and private commercial radio and commercial television. The U.S. Code of Federal Regulations, title 47, part 97 defines "broadcasting" as "transmissions intended for reception by the general public, either direct or relayed". Transmission of radio and television programs from a radio or television station to home receivers by radio waves is referred to as "over the air" (OTA) or terrestrial broadcasting and in most countries requires a broadcasting license. Transmissions using a wire or cable, like cable television (which also retransmits OTA stations with their consent), are also considered broadcasts but do not necessarily require a license (though in some countries, a license is required). Bitcoin SV is Revving up for Potentially Unlimited Scale - 4th March 2021

 

With the latest release of its software. Switzerland-based industry organization the Bitcoin Association has announced the release of the Bitcoin SV Node software v1.0.7 in an effort to boost up for potentially unlimited scale.

Calvin Ayre, a big proponent for Bitcoin SV, retweeted the news on Thursday.

Why This is Important

The Dynastic update to Bitcoin SV Node software means a lifting of limitations that were previously imposed on apps so that enterprises can increase throughput and effectively scale.

The update has improved support for long chains of unconfirmed transctions, as the default limit for ancestor and child-pays-for-parent (CPFP) transactions has been extended from 25 to 1,000.

The Dynastic release completes the process of replacing the legacy block assembler, implemented in later versions of the Bitcoin Core (BTC) software, with a new journaling block assembler for the Bitcoin SV (BSV) network.

This change now supports long chains of unconfirmed transactions and has introduced simplified transaction selection logic.
Prioritizing transactions based on how much miners can make in fees is no longer necessary on the Bitcoin SV network, which has low-fee transactions. Those waiting for transactions to be confirmed on the BTC network may have noticed the occasional 6 hour wait time for those who did not pay the prioritized fee.

Steve Shadders, technical director of the Bitcoin SV Infrastructure Team: "Along came a 1MB block size limit and ideas about a fee market. The idea was that limiting the block size would create demand for block space and drive up the transaction fees users would effectively bid to get included in a block. But this created a new requirement for the Bitcoin software to manage. If a miner can't select all the available transactions due to the 1MB limit, they need to ensure they select the ones that pay the highest fee rates to maximise their revenues, leaving the less lucrative transactions for another miner to pick up later."

Shadders added: "The removal of the CPFP and ancestor limits from the Bitcoin SV network has been one of the most requested improvements we've received from businesses and end-users alike."
