Hundreds,
perhaps thousands of American based, and some masquerading as American gaming
operators, are buying up U.S casino and U.S sports betting domain names in hope
of getting into the internet's latest version of an online gold rush. Skeptics,
note this is not another Bitcoin or Bitcoin Cash / Cryptrocurrency "get rich
quick" (loose money fast) scheme, but a tried and tested business model based
upon sports betting, website traffic, advertising, sponsors, paying punters and
the like. Gaming
and sports betting giants such as DraftKings, FanDuel (now with William Hill)
are in the thick of the action with other fan based companies jumping on board,
with even examples of professional boxers, wrestlers and golfers inking deals
with eSports companies. Podcasting,
website publishing, Instagram and social media entreprenuers... are all living
up for a piece of the action. The market is getting flooded, but the internet
is a big place... The
trend has not gone unnoticed by Vegas casino operators such as MGM Grand, well
known for its connection to the MMA king - UFC, which generates millions of dollars
via sports betting, not to mention ticket sales, merch and media rights. Hello,
ESPN +. Rumor
has it that American sports promoter genius Vince McMahon is still moving forward
with his XFL league, having secured a multi million dollar deal for his WWE SmackDown
via Fox. In the XFL hype theme song available on its website it mentions fan friendly
and more betting! Japanese
pro wrestling superstar and avid gamer, Kenny Omega, is getting in on the action
also with an appearance at the CIO Gaming expo in Florida, which will also include
a number of pro wrestling matches presented via New Japan Pro-Wrestling. You have
to ask yourself, will the cool kids and fan boys be betting on the New Japan matches,
even though many insiders understand that professional wrestling has pre determined
winners. This is something that the late, great, WWE manager, Bobby 'The Brain'
Heenan was well aware of, and legend has it he major a made sting of a sports
betting operations years ago having got the insider track on who the winners were
going to be. We will never know for sure, but the kinds of scenarios that come
up when you mix casinos, gaming, sports betting and professional wrestling are
pretty incredible. Too
be continued...
CEO
Gaming - New Japan Pro Wrestling Calvin
Ayre, the Canadian-Antiguan entrepreneur based in Antigua and Barbuda, is following
the eSports and online gaming expansion and gold rush with interest. Mr Bodog
and his army have the finger on the pulse of all things online betting and online
gaming. Perhaps
James Packer and Richard Branson
should have a closer look at eSports. Branson's Virgin previously had the defunct
Pickum circa 2009. Packer is licking his wounds from Macau and is not squarely
focussed on Australia, but still enjoys strong overseas relationships. Photo credit:

Cuban. Owner of the Mavericks is heavily involved in the Esports - Daily Fantasy
Sports business. He is also the chairman of ASX who just happen to broadcast New
Japan Wrestling Wrestling. Small sports business world yes. Watch This Space! Rupert
Murdoch is well aware of eSports and online gaming. He is very busy having just
secured the WWE SmackDown deal and further evolving his business into the online
environment. Perhaps son James will expand News Corp's gaming and sports business
interests well beyond a Fox Sports Australia
fantasy and tipping comp or two. Expect big developments in time!
The
World Poker Tour and World
Series of Poker companies are enjoying a friendly war of getting as much television
time as possible. Check ESPN and FS1 (Fox Sports) local listings. Both companies
would like to further ramp up in Australia and New Zealand when the time is right.
Crown
Resorts still enjoy their lucrative Aussie
Millions Poker Championship and Crown
Poker entities. Punters flock to these tournaments chasing a big hand and
payday.
