Keeping pace with the action for US pokerheads

Poker fans who need to know immediately when World Series of Poker events are going down have a new cellphone service from this month.

News and updates from the poker world series are now available as SMS alerts to U.S. wireless network subscribers via the Poker! Mobile service, which is offered through a combined effort by Bluff Magazine, FullTiltPoker, Setanta Mobile, Trajectory Sports & Media Group and mStyle.

Pokerheads simply send POKERNEWS and/or POKERLIVE to 67000 from their U.S.-based cell phone to receive the latest news, results and breaking stories directly on the mobile phone. Cross-carrier distribution and delivery of this new service in the US is powered by mStyle.

The new SMS alerts are the second phase of the Poker! program to launch. The first phase was a dedicated mobile news, education and information WAP (Mobile internet) channel, which was launched in June and is now available on more than 150 million cellular telephones in the United States. It is located in the sports sections on the WAP decks of a number of tier one carriers and can be found within the World of Sport or International Sports sections.

A third stage of the Poker! Mobile program, consisting of downloadable wallpaper and screensavers, is planned for late summer. In addition to the current World Series of Poker event which continues through August 10 Poker! Mobile covers other important poker tournaments on an ongoing basis.

We are pleased to offer our readers, and all poker fans, access to the latest news and results from major poker tournaments, said Eddie Kleid, President of Bluff Magazine. We recently launched editions in Canada, Europe and Asia, and we look forward to extending this type of service to those areas too.

The World Series of Poker is a highlight of the annual tournament circuit. It covers several events, including Texas Holdem Limit, Omaha Pot Limit, 7-Card-Stud Hi/Lo and other poker types. It culminates with the grand finale the World Championship Event, scheduled for Thursday, August 10.
