Sydney When
Art Met Technology: Under the Coke sign | Vivid Sydney 25
May - 16 June 2018
Artist: 32 Hundred Lighting: Sydney Bouhaniche (Australia) Collaborator: Iain
Reed (Australia) The
famous Kings Cross Coca-Cola sign has received special artistic treatment for
Vivid KX with the screening of new graphic content by artist Sydney Bouhaniche. The
bright, contrasting colour palettes and bold geometric forms and patterns of mid-20th
century modernism are the inspiration for all the installations created at the
Cross for Vivid KX which has delivered a cohesive display of light art that ties
together the whole precinct. The
graphic content on the Coca-Cola sign has been enabled by the recent refurbishment
of the sign (itself a modernist landmark) which included replacing the 40-year-old
neon lighting with more than two kilometres of RGB rope LED. (Vivid
