The
2008 Heritage Toowoomba Royal Show kicks off at
9 o'clock today after a frantic night of last-minute
preparations.
Royal
Agricultural Society of Queensland chief executive
officer Damon Phillips had no doubt yesterday
that everything would fall into place for a very
successful People's Day today.
"A
bit of rain has freshened everything up, so the
grounds are looking great," Mr Phillips said.
He's
doing all he can to ensure more rain won't put
a damper on the weekend.
"I
know we're going to have fine weather for three
days," he said enthusiastically.
"But
even if it does rain generally everyone forges
ahead together no matter what the conditions."
This
year the nightly feature events are three separate
entertainment programs.
The
White Fire Spectacular tonight features fire dancers,
trapeze artists, human torch stuntmen and the
largest fireworks show seen in Toowoomba.
Tomorrow
night will be extreme with bull riding, monster
trucks and motocross and the Royal Queensland
Tattoo on Saturday will feature more than 450
performers.
Renowned
Hollywood actor Colin Handley is bringing his
experience as a stunt man and choreographer to
tonight's human torch event.
"Toowoomba
will witness the fiery suspense of the human torches
in this one-off stunt show," Mr Handley said.
