The rumours have began, and we sure didn't start them.

It's no secret that the Hulkster's and the Stinger's TNA Wrestling contracts are up in about a week, and that TNA Wrestling is cutting budgets and talent.

Hogan and Sting are "legacy" talent, or as anyone would tell you, legit living legends of professional wrestling.

As WWE COO Triple H has mentioned, Hogan will always be the face of the WWE for many people, especially those who watched through the 90's.

Hogan is one of the most recognizable people on the planet - full stop, and wrestling fans have been calling on Sting to join the WWE for decades. It's almost happened a few times, but the timing and / or the deal was off.

This time around on the surface the timing looks fantastic for Hogan and Sting, and let's not forget WWE WrestleMania XXX (30) will be wanting to load up the card for his April, both from an in ring, special attraction and celebrity perspective.

Hogan and Sting have also been complimentary of the WWE product for many months, and hardly a week goes by where the WWE doesn't do a website or TV mention of both Hogan and Sting.

Let's face it - if the WWE to brass wants Hogan and Sting enough (and it looks like their fans do), there's going to be plenty of financial incentive (and job security), to get them to make the jump.

Hogan and Sting would be awesome for the WWE in so many ways. TV ratings will go up, as will merchandise sales, and the company will also likely pick up more casual or previous viewers. Think of the buy rates and wrestling angles that the two greats could be factored into, and the McMahon power struggle seems like a perfect fit.

The two have faced off previously, both at WCW Starcade 1997, as well as in TNA Wrestling, and while its extremely unlikely that they would have a one on one match in the WWE, perhaps a tag match with the likes of The Undertaker and whoever is the HWT or tag champs could be done, but storylines would be the main focus with these potential signings.

Some current WWE talent might not be totally wrap if Hogan and Sting were to sign, but the WWE is currently light on iconic and legendary pro wrestling legends, and these two greats fit the bill than just about anyone else on the planet.

For the sake of the fans, let's hope that McMahon, Hunter and the rest of the powers that be get the job done.
