Party princess Paris Hilton held
her only official Sydney media engagement on New
Year's Day, naming Jaime Wright the face of Bondi
Blonde beer.
She
cast her discerning eye over a stream of bikini-clad
hopefuls at the Bondi Icebergs club, alongside
surfing star Koby Abberton.
The
Hilton hotel heiress was reportedly paid up to
$5 million by advertising magnate John Singleton
for the whirlwind six-day promotional visit.
Singleton
is the major shareholder in Bluetongue Brewery,
which produces the Blonde beer.
Crowning
Ms Wright Ms Bondi Blonde, Hilton was, as always,
loving the cameras, striking a pose in a yellow
dress for the mob of photographers crowding the
Bondi club.
"Thanks
for having me here, I'm having the best time and
I love Australia," she said.
"Everyone's
been so warm and welcoming."
"Being
a blonde myself I love blondes, so I'm excited
to meet you girls and thanks for having me here."
The
25-year-old model, actress and sometime singer
was quick to compliment the parade of contestants.
"You've
got great abs," she told one.
"She
was really pretty," she remarked of another.
But
it wasn't all fashion and frivolity, with Hilton
also offering a new year's resolution to the media
pack.
"I
have a lot of new year's resolutions," she
said.
"One
is definitely giving back, I'm really fortunate
and that's why everywhere I go I'm going to visit
a children's hospital, just get really involved
in charity work."
The
international A-lister dropped into the children's
ward of Sydney's Royal North Shore Hospital last
week, signing autographs and causing a few young
male patients to blush.
Hilton
was handed the keys to Bondi as she presented
the Ms Bondi Blonde award, as a token of thanks
for her promotional contribution to the famous
beach.
Hours
after jetting into Sydney on December 28, Paris
took a dip in the Bondi surf, to the delight of
Waverley mayor George Newhouse and scores of wide-eyed
onlookers.
"I
have to say that Paris is welcome at Bondi any
time," Mr Newhouse said.
Hilton
is believed to have ushered in 2007 with Sam Branson,
son of Virgin mogul Sir Richard Branson.
She
flies home to the US on Tuesday.
