Letter To The Editor - Tso popular, she's good business for Nine

12th November 2004

Dear Amanda

I read yesterdays Media section of ‘The Australian’ with great interest.

“The Diary” is always a highlight of “The Oz” – Media, for me, as it’s an excellent wrap up of recent events.

Being “in the business” (and acting on various entitles behalf), I was delighted to see that one of my clients, ‘“Hottest On TV’ finally got a guernsey, in the ‘Tso popular, she’s good business for Nine’ article. One of the aspects that I like about www.hottestontv.com.au is that it assists over 400 Australian TV personalities, not just focussing on 1 or 2 “names”, everyone is in the running, and it helps beat the politics of the media business, where as everyone is invited to the party. Not there’s anything wrong with “invitation only’s”, “mates favours” and such (when there is real talent involved).

I’ve been campaigning “Media” for off an on now for a year to run a piece on my operation, and / or some of my clients. Recently, when I read your associates, Mark Day’s column entitled, ‘Online players come of age’, I suggested to Mark that he and ‘Media' should take a closer look at myself and some of my associates, and before you knew it…POW! The last time I was personally mentioned in “The Oz” was back with 'Law’s sees a kinder side of Telstra', (regarding me notifying John and the audience that was both Telstra and Optus “Salesperson of the month”, and that I wished to voice my opinion on the two companies.

Just as Mark, Tso, Channel Nine and yourself have found, it pays to listen to the audience, in both goodwill and financial terms.

To “celebrate” ‘The Oz’s' recognition of my client, and reading of my correspondence, I promptly took out an online subscription to your Newsstand online newspaper service, and I’ve made it anything but a secret.

In the world of media its refreshing to see that worthy and newsworthy individuals and entities who are not necessarily on Kerry’s and Rupert’s payrolls, can still beat “the system” and get a run, even in publications as prestigious as yours.

For the record, “Hottest” receives over 1.4 million hits per week, and our website “only” receives 300,000 plus. Having said that, it’s not only “how many” that count, “it’s who”, and you know who!

I applaud “The Oz” (media), and I’m been even more frequently reading your broadsheet and new age offerings. As I tell others, I support those, who support us.

Best Regards
