Wade's book is of a life most of us don't wiggle our toes, much less plunge into, as does this amazing man.

Sure, I sometimes felt he was peddling his wares, maybe even engaging in a marketing exercise, but his anecdotal style, and genuine first-person account is clearly much more than "a curious sex story" or simply sleaze.

In fact, seemingly candid, David initially appears almost pristine in his desire to write a book about his foray into his business of "high class" escorts. As I read his account, I oscillated between being touched, irritated, fascinated and disbelieving. Let's face it, we all know the reader's response is very subjective indeed. Never let it be said that I've been repulsed by the concept of brothels, merely bemused and vaguely revolted by pimps' motivations and the enslaving of drug dependent girls. It's been the types that I've found most unpleasant.

David Wade on the other hand is very honest and his story is an evolution of his own; it's HIS story, with the telling of his own frailties, foibles, bad luck etc. His exposure of falling into the web of a girl he so carefully recruited was almost woefully sympathy arousing. Such an excellent actress was she (a quality he coveted in his "glamours"), that he became a victim in the most regrettable way. But one gets the impression he learned a bitter, profound and transforming lesson from her grotesque exploitation of David.

For me it's the whole story that was moving, interesting and informative. Wade talks of his illness which has a certain irony, being cancer in the genital region, and this reader felt huge compassion for the man through his trauma.

The short erotic quotes at the beginning of each chapter were the only truly titillating bits. This reader was thoroughly entertained and dare I say, received some excellent and useful tips as well. Thanks David.

Let's not be coy or twee about it - assume nothing readers. This man IS selling SEX, but not the sex experience lit up in neon; but a brave exposé by a somewhat peripheral man - a huMAN and a transcendent experience through adversity that is touching and surprising. It's a tome to give, particularly female heartstrings a nudge.

Anyone interested in people, life, learning, sex or all of the above will enjoy this story of a man with a unique tale, a flowing pen and a poignant message.
