Asian Business Directory To Make World Its
Oyster
Adelaide
based ADSA (Asia Directory of South Australia), internet
portal and media company, is set to expand nationally.
It
sounds like an ambitious plan, but ADSA is also taking
the right steps to make it happen, with the directory
available online and in hard copy, and available in
3 languages, Australian, Vietnamese and Traditional
Chinese.
ADSA
founder and director, Binh An Nguyen, a Vietnamese
native, came to Australia in 1991, with the dream
of making a new life for himself. Today, with the
opportunities in the media and new business, his dreams
are starting to turn to reality.
Nguyen
says, The internet is bringing the world together
and I am excited about the ways that ADSA is helping
bridge the gap between traditional Australia and our
neighbours in the Orient. We originally made our service
web based, but now we also have a hard copy version
similar to the Yellow Pages. We are serious about
reaching our customers, on or offline.
This
media entrepreneur has done his research. Theres
approximately 30,000 persons of Oriental background
in South Australia and over half of Australias
university students are from Oriental decent.
Nguyen
is successfully plugging into existing business networks
such as the Portal of Adelaide Chamber of Commerce
and has enjoyed positive feedback from his local member
of parliament.
Other
global media companies have penetrated the Orient,
namely Murdoch owned News Corporation, and who can
forget the fanfare caused by Googles entry into
China.
That
brings us to the question of censorship, content and
search engine results. Nguyen assures us that ADSA
results are not censored and that the content is client
and market driven. Binh says, We built the ADSA
platform to cater for all users.
So,
where does ADSA find their audience? Nguyen explains,
Approximately half of our audience and clients
find us on the internet in search engines such as
Google and Yahoo! Whilst the others see our business
directory that is found in Asian shops and places
of business. We are also getting a lot of word of
mouth enquiries and theres quite a buzz going
on in Oriental Australian business circles.
In
this world where websites and directories are a dime
a dozen, ADSA has identified an exciting niche in
the market. If the world is ones oyster, theres
a treasure trove for ADSA to discover.
