CARRERA CUP AUSTRALIA REINFORCES STANDING AS AUSTRALIA'S PREMIUM SPORTS CAR CATEGORY

Press Release - 20th November 2007

Carrera Cup Australia – the country's premium sports car category – will be the only support category to feature at the five biggest motorsport events in Australia next year after being announced as a competitor at the Formula 1™ ING Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne recently.

The decision by the Australian Grand Prix Corporation to include the fastest one-make sports car category in the world means the Carrera Cup will be the only category other than the V8 Supercar Championship Series to feature at the biggest motorsport events in Australia in 2008.

As well as the Formula 1™ ING Australian Grand Prix – which will be the second round of Carrera Cup Australia's nine round season – the all-Porsche category will race at the Clipsal 500 Adelaide, Philip Island 500, Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 and the Gold Coast Indy 300.

The series will also compete alongside the V8 Supercar Championship Series at Barbagallo Raceway, Sandown International Raceway and Queensland Raceway, while the category will head the bill at Wakefield Park.

It will be the first time since 2005 that the Porsches have visited Western Australia, while Wakefield Park will welcome them back after an absence of one season.

Carrera Cup Australia CEO Theo Psaros said the appearance of the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (Type 997) at the five biggest motorsport events of the year highlighted the category's standing as the country's premium sports car category

"The Carrera Cup has been a regular feature at Australia's biggest racing events since its inception in 2003 and we are thrilled 2008 will be no different," he said.

"Competing on the major tracks, in front of huge television and trackside crowds, not only delivers outstanding benefits to our sponsors but also our drivers and teams as it helps to keep them at the forefront of the Australian motorsport scene."
