On
June 22, 2002, Australian martial arts expert Anthony
Kelly caught by hand 23 paintballs at the Echida Gully
paintball field in Armidale, New South Wales, Australia.
Each paintball was fired from a distance of 20 m (65.6
ft) at a minimum speed of 61 m (200 ft) per second.
Kelly,
who also holds a Guinness World Record for catching
10 arrows by hand in two minutes, claims that paintball-catching
is more challenging. "It's a different skill,"
he says. "They're going a lot faster than the
arrows. The trick is to roll with them to be able
to catch them without the paintball breaking."
And they may not be as sharp as arrows, but paintballs
can be just as dangerous. "It's like someone
tossing a cricket ball towards you at full strength,"
explained the Kung Fu guru.
The
marksman Kelly's very trusted friend James
Simmons shot the .68 caliber paintballs from
a Tipman SL68 II paintball marker.
