Brian
Wilshire started his highly successful radio career
at 2NZ Inverell in 1969. After working at 2NZ Inverell,
2TM Tamworth, 2CA Canberra and 2UE in Sydney, Brian
made the move to 2GB in June 1979.
Brian celebrated 20 years on the 2GB Evening show
in June 1999, having the highest rating show on the
station. In fact, the 2GB Evening show has averaged
twice the overall station market share for two decades.
At present, with 18.9%, Brian has the highest audience
share of any program on any Sydney station.
He's
well known for originating the much-copied Midnight-Matchmaker,
which ran from 1982 to 1991, and the whistle blowing
on political and health matters which led to Senator
Gareth Evens threatening a Parliamentary investigation
of his radio show in 1988.
Brian
has written and published four books, including the
best-selling Australian book of 1992, "The Fine
Print".
Brian
shares 5 acres of bushland on Sydney's North-Western
outskirts with his wife of 24 years, two children,
five cats, two dogs and six chickens. He enjoys a
keen interest motor racing, snow skiing, photography,
drumming, blues music and travel. He can be heard
drumming with the band, "Stringybark", at
the Windsor shops on the 3rd Sunday of each month.
