The battle has already begun to win the vote of Wentworth's newest citizen, Peter Reginald Wakefield born at Randwick's Royal Womens' Hospital on January 10 weighing 2.8 kilos.

Watched by father Labour councillor John Wakefield and mother Eva, young Peter caught the attention of Wentworth MP Malcolm Turnbull when he attended his first political event on January 25 to witness the announcement of Bondi's placement on the national heritage list.

Cr Wakefield assured the MP his son's vote was already spoken for.
