With
Time Warner sitting on $7 billion in cash, the
Marvel deal has ignited rumours of a second wave
of consolidation in the media industry. Dream
Works Animation, home of Shrek, is seen as a potential
takeover candidate, as is MGM with its huge library
of classic films. The games firms Electronic Arts
and Take Two Interactive, with its Grand Theft
Auto franchise, are also being touted as potential
buys.

It is a subsidiary of Time Warner, with its headquarters
in Burbank, California and New York City. Warner

Founded in 1918 by Jewish immigrants from Poland,
Warner Bros. is the third-oldest American movie
studio in continuous operation, after Paramount
Pictures, founded in 1912 as Famous Players, and
Universal Studios, also founded in 1912.
