We
deep dive into sports betting continues and we sit
under the learning tree of Gary Greene of Bluebook
and Gary Wins BetVegas and BetVegas.tv
When did I develop a passion
for sports? How did I transform it into a career?
I
started at a young age playing lots of different sports.
I grew up in NJ and when I was 10 my neighbor (best
friend Father) was the big Bookie in town. My friend
and I would work for him distributing "pools"
(now called Parlay cards in Sportsbooks) to all the
people in the neighborhood and to local businesses
as well. It was Football related with Point spreads
on the games. We would go back after a few days and
pick up the filled out pools and the money each person
would bet on each "pool/parlay card". If
anyone won, then I would return on Tuesday to pay
them their winnings.
Being
involved in Sports Betting at a young age and being
brought up in a city where sports betting, although
illegal, was very big. I enjoyed it and really started
gambling with other things like Poker and also playing
Fantasy stuff with other friends. I realized by 18-19
it would likely become my career, but more as a Professional
Sports Bettor. I was able to do that in NJ until I
became 25 and started to bet too much on each game
and was somewhat forced to move to Las Vegas so I
could bet higher limits without any trouble. I started
out only doing that but soon after arriving in Las
Vegas I started being asked to be on Sports Radio
shows to give my opinions on who I was betting that
given day or weekend coming up. That led to getting
my own Radio Shows, then TV Shows and also starting
my own Football Betting Magazine. Hence, a second
side career started off my initial career of just
being a Professional Sports Bettor.
What is my favorite Sport from
a Spectator point of view? From a Betting Perspective?
From
just the spectator view it's Baseball. I don't bet
on Baseball as a Pro so I can sit and enjoy the games
and I love people watching so it's a very fun/relaxing
few hours for me. I even get to work on my tan as
well...lol! From a Betting perspective it's both Football
and College Basketball, the two sports I am elite
in the world at betting'
How did I learn about Sports
Betting?
Again
at a very young age I learned the basics at 10 years
old then more of the betting on single games or parlays
when I was around 14 or so.
How
did I adapt to the world of Internet Sports Betting?
Pros? Cons?
That
really happened years into my move to Vegas, as there
was no Internet in my first few years here. The Pros
are not needing to get in the car and drive from Casino
Sportsbook to the next one to place my bets as you
can place online now. The Cons are betting online
and you quickly get banned once they see you are a
Pro.
Highlights of Bet Vegas company?
Biggest challenges overcome?
Well
thanks to the internet and radio shows for decades
and having all the Vegas Sportsbooks take my Weekly
Football Betting Magazine "The Bluebook"
I was able to get noticed by tens of thousands of
sports bettors across Las Vegas, the USA and even
other countries. My biggest challenge is and always
will be that 90-95% of people who give betting advice
are not Pro's and don't even bet games and many are
also Scammers who use this method to swindle naive
people out of their hard earned money. It's a totally
unregulated biz and so it's an easy score for crooks.
I have to overcome the bad guys as most people's initial
thoughts are that I am also a scammer, until they
realize I am elite at my craft/profession and teach
them how "not to be scammed".
What
are some unique selling advantages of Bluebook/Bet
Vegas company?
Well
giving my Magazine away totally FREE the past dozen
or so years enables tens of thousands of people to
see first hand I know what I am doing, that I win
on a regular basis, know I am fully credible at my
profession and I also help them to make their own
picks as well using the Magazine's elite stats.
Do I follow MMA/Boxing?
I
watch both but rarely ever bet on either sport. I
am not an Expert in either sport and watch for the
enjoyment factor. The pitfalls are much like betting
Baseball or Hockey, the lines on the favorites have
very high betting odds. You can lose your bankroll
very quickly, laying odds of way higher than 110-100.
Laying say: 350-100 is like 3 1/2 losses on one losing
bet.
What are my views on WWE? It's
betting opportunities?
I
actually do not watch WWE and have no real insight
into its betting opportunities.
Thoughts on new WWE slot machines?
I
actually haven't seen WWE slot machines although I
am not a slot machine player....I do see all the new
slot machines from old time movies, TV shows, sports
type people though when I walk thru a Casino.
What
cities and countries do I serve? Any no go zones?
I
serve every USA city and really any country as well.
Most of my following though is in USA.
What is my motto?
In
life it is "treat the busboy the exact same as
you treat a CEO or Celebrity". In biz, since
my entire life revolves around "Sports Betting"
it's always "Never bet what you can NOT afford
to lose"
.
Can
you tell us some personal stuff about yourself?
I
am 59 years old and now finishing my 34th year as
a Professional Sports Bettor/Magazine Publisher and
Sportswriter/Radio/TV Personality. I have also done
motivational speaking as I have been very lucky to
have beaten "Lupus" for nearly 40 years.
I enjoy the Beach, Sporting Events, Playing Poker,
Shows/Concerts and spending time with my family/friends.
My favorite foods are Pizza/Pasta, French Fries and
Ice Cream and really any type of cakes/pies and I
love Bagels as well.
end.
