CTV with Ukwanni "Man In The Cape"

9th December 2003

Are you all ready for this! Ukwanni, "Man In The Cape" is back to bring you more of what's hot. And there's lots of heat right now here in the Cape. Summer is almost at its peak and the beaches are showing it. Brazilian string bikinis not mention. The fashions people are wearing around town also echo the change in seasons. So, if you're ready, come along with me for a leisurely stroll. We'll take a walk around one of the most amazing gardens on earth. Let's go!

Here we are as we step down from our private air conditioned cyber limousine. You are standing at the base of the famous Jan Smutts memorial statue located at the far end of Adderley Street facing Table mountain. In front of us is a sprawling complex of gardens, museums, galleries, the national library and more. When you visit Cape Town and want to see the most eye-popping stuff the Jan Smutts Gardens should be on your list. It's all packed within this area. The thing I like most, as you may well have guessed by now, is the fact many of these facilities offer free programmes if not outrageously nominal fees. Finally, after you have visited all the galleries, planetarium shows, and events at Parliament, you are in the right spot to enjoy a fabulous lunch out doors. You can choose to sit on the grass or on one of the many benches situated beneath overhanging shade trees. The views of Table Mountain are breath taking from anywhere in the gardens as well.

Now for a more serious turn. I know while the vast majority of you are seasoned film goers, there are many who need to be introduced to the finer points of film enjoyment. The first thing I suggest, especially if the film is one you really want to see or have been waiting to see, is to go along. Then, later perhaps, you can take your friends. This way, you can fully enjoy the film and all its subtleties uninterrupted. What to look for when you are out taking in this long awaited screening? First thing you must pay close attention to is the initial mood of the music as well as any opening graphics or scenery. A lot is being said about the whole of the film at this point. In actuality the primary "Mood" or "Tone" is being set upon the opening sequence of shots. The very next thing to note is camera angles and shots. This is closely followed by plot/character development and finally, interaction between the characters. This is of course is a very broad treatment of a much more detailed process of critically viewing a film. But, if followed will lead to more enjoyment as well as enhanced understanding of the over all film.

I hope our little cyber stroll through the gardens has left you refreshed and ready for more. Unfortunately, at this point, I must bid you all a due, Bon voyage, fare well! Our time together has evaporated and I must be off to my next exotic local form whence I shall bring you more news and views here in the Cape. Until then, Ukwanni and CTV wishing your place in the summer sun sizzle.
