Why is Content Marketing Important?

Content is the foundation of just about every type of online customer interaction. From search and discovery through consideration and on to conversion, content helps consumers make decisions. Content marketing helps brands maximize their return on investment in content by ensuring that each content asset—whether a blog post, email, article, infographic, video, or any other format—reaches the most receptive and relevant audience.

Content marketing is a form of marketing focused on creating, publishing, and distributing content for a targeted audience online It is often used by businesses in order to achieve the following goals: attract attention and generate leads, expand their customer base, generate or increase online sales, increase brand awareness or credibility, and engage an online community of users. Content marketing attracts new customers by creating and sharing valuable free content. It helps companies create sustainable brand loyalty, provides valuable information to consumers, and creates a willingness to purchase products from the company in the future.

Content marketing starts with identifying the customer's needs. After that the information can be presented in a variety of formats, including news, video, white papers, e-books, infographics, email newsletters, case studies, podcasts, how-to guides, question and answer articles, photos, blogs, etc.

Content marketing requires continuous delivery of large amounts of content, preferably within a content marketing strategy. (Wikipedia)

Why It’s Time To Reinvent And Future-Proof Your Approach To Content Marketing

(Search Engine Journal)

To succeed in the highly competitive creator economy of today and the future, content marketers need to rethink their approach. Read on to find out how.

By Purna Virji

As a content marketer, you’re likely questioning your path forward.

We’re at an inflection point with AI.

Many marketers worry about job security. Yet, we face pressures to constantly churn out more and more content in an already far-too-cluttered space.

While the volume of content published rises sharply every day, we still only have 24 hours in a day.

We still need to eat, sleep, work, do chores. Where is there time to consume it all?

There isn’t.

The reality is that most content simply fades unread into the ether. Creating content takes hard work, regardless of the outcome.

Isn’t it demoralizing to follow all the best practices yet not consistently see the results you were aiming for?

That’s why I wrote this book.

High-Impact Content Marketing shows you how to succeed by taking a simplified yet strategic approach to standing out and driving revenue impact.

It covers time-proven strategies to create content that audiences will actually want to consume. And shows you how to do so in a genuinely inclusive way.

It also covers how to master content distribution to maximize reach, engagement and impact.

What makes High-Impact Content Marketing unique is how it weaves in behavioral science and adult learning principles to maximize and measure impact.

It features easy-to-implement frameworks and actionable guides throughout as well as examples of best-in-class content to inspire you.

Below is an exclusive extract from the book.

This is Chapter 1, which talks about why it’s time to reinvent and future-proof your approach to content marketing. In it, I also share the five most common mistakes content marketers make today and how you can avoid them.

As a thank you, my publishers have shared a 20% off discount code exclusive to Search Engine Journal readers should you wish to purchase the book. Please use the promo code HICM on the Kogan Page website to redeem it.

Greg Tingle

SEJ's Purna with many interesting and mainly useful ideas and strategies regarding content marketing. I totally agree that much content doesn't get read or noticed a great deal. High impact to drive forward a tangible and real world result. In my review purpose should have a goal or purposes in mind. This may be to drive (qualified) website and/or social media traffic and convert into sales for online advertising campaigns, pr/news promotions, pop culture merchandise sales, purchases of combat sports via Pay-Per-View platforms, digital subscriptions or perhaps a combination. Time (and health) will be the most important commodity for people, in online commerce, in business in general for much of life itself. Be mindful of where you put your time, energy and resources, and this includes content also. Search Engine Journal continues to impress us, adds value and educates, so us and the masses continue to visit the website and channels. Many of us get so much value we will also contribute, whether we are on the payroll or not. Back on point, produce content for a reason, test, fine tune, sell and keep improving. Don't move your eyes off the main aspect of your business.. Online remains just part of the equation. Winning strategy.
