Efron complimented by Marshall Von Erich for The Iron
Claw movie
When
Zac Efron was cast to star in a movie about professional
wrestlings Von Erich family, it raised a few
eyebrows. Efron will play the role of Kevin Von Erich
in The Iron Claw. Photos emerged recently, and Efron
received support from Kevins son.
Marshall
Von Erich complimented Efrons jacked physique.
Marshall was encouraged by the dedication from Efron
and involvement by Chavo Guerrero to do the film right.
Reports
indicate that Chavo will serve as wrestling coordinator
for the film.
The
plot for The Iron Claw will follow the Von Erich family
from the 1960s through to present day. Director and

the sport and then suffered tragedy. Along with

play Kerry Von Erich, Harris Dickinson will play David
Von Erich, and Holt McCallany will play patriarch
Fritz Von Erich. There doesnt appear to be jacked
and juicy public photos of Efrons co-stars yet
to see how they compare.
The
Iron Claw does not have an official release date at
the moment.
The
Iron Claw is a biographical film about the wrestling
dynasty that was the Von Erich family, and co-stars
The Bear leading man Jeremy Allen White
as Kerry Von Erich and Beach Rats actor
Harris Dickinson as David Von Erich

Zac
Efron is all flying muscle in first look at wrestling
drama Iron Claw
(CNN)
CNN
- Zac Efron is abs-olutely going for it in the first
photo from his upcoming drama Iron Claw.
The
actor shared the first-look image from the A24 film
to his Instagram on Monday, showing him hurtling through
the air in a blue Speedo as he lands a drop kick on
an opponent in a wrestling ring.
The
image shows him near-horizontal in midair, muscles
rippling and hair flying as he delivers the barefooted
kick to his unsuspecting rival.
Efron
will be playing wrestling legend Kevin Von Erich in
the film. The Von Erichs are a famous family of wrestlers
whose start in the WWE dates back to the 1960s, according
to the organizations website. They were inducted
into the Hall of Fame in 2009.

the industry, trademarking a distinctive finishing
move known as The Iron Claw, before five
of his six sons followed in their fathers footsteps
to become wrestlers.
Efron
will portray Kevin, the last surviving brother, opposite
costars Lily James (Pam & Tommy) and
The Affair star Maura Tierney, who will
play his mother Doris.
The
Iron Claw, which does not yet have an official
release date, comes from writer-director Sean Durkin,
whose credits include the 2011 Elizabeth Olsen-starring
Martha Marcy May Marlene.
Skyfall
at 10: Sam Mendes Recalls How Shutting Down the Movie
Led to Its Ultimate Success
The film faced an uphill battle including studio
MGM going bankrupt and headlines declaring the end
of 007 before a 10-month hiatus put it on the
path to $1 billion at the box office.

PHIL PIRRELLO
In
April 2010, Skyfall
received a blessing in disguise when it was unceremoniously
shut down.
With
parent studio MGM spiraling toward bankruptcy at the
time, Daniel Craigs much-anticipated third outing
as James Bond was put on an indefinite pause by producers
Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson. MGMs
financial situation hobbled both the production and
the franchise, with the latter sorely in need of a
hit. The would-be blockbuster had already been in
development for a year and a half following
the mixed critical and box office response to 2008s
noble misfire, Quantum of Solace. It looked like Bonds
DNR would be a lengthy one, with the press worrying
it would be similar to the six-year gap between 1989s
License to Kill and the release of GoldenEye in 1995
that was brought on by legal troubles.
When
all this was announced, the cover story at Entertainment
Weekly at the time read: Is James Bond Dead?
recalls director Sam Mendes, who tells The Hollywood
Reporter on the eve of Skyfalls 10th anniversary
how challenging it seemed then for the movie to ever
reach such a milestone. Mendes and his collaborators
used the downtime as an opportunity to creatively
resuscitate the films storyline. In doing so,
they found themselves dealing with the same themes
of resurrection in real life that Bond would struggle
with as the movie rocketed toward its Nov. 9 release
date in the U.S. just in time for the franchises
50th anniversary. (No pressure.)
As
Skyfall turns 10, Mendes reveals how he and his collaborators
pulled off one of the biggest Bond movies ever
the first, and only, 007 adventure to gross $1 billion
at the box office.
People
forget these things very quickly, but MGM went bankrupt
and the thought among the town at that time was: Oh,
its all over. They cant afford it, thats
the end of Bond, Mendes explains. For
roughly 10 months, production was shut down. And while
technically no one was allowed to work on the script
during that time because of legal reasons, there wasnt
anything stopping Mendes and his writers Bond
veterans Neal Purvis and Robert Wade, with a rewrite
from John Logan from imagining how to address
script concerns once the movie was back on its feet.
Two
of those ideas were givens that the story needed to
have: The death of M (played by Dame Judi Dench) and,
for Craig, a villain who felt equal to Bond. It was
the former that helped Mendes better realize that
that loss would be the thematic fulcrum on which the
rest of Bonds journey during the Craig era would
hinge.
At
a very early stage, there was a treatment which
was almost entirely ditched but it ended with
the death of M. And that was one of the things that
hooked me in, Mendes recalls. Everyone
was feeling that, with Barbara and Michaels
willingness to handle the character that way, that
one decision, in a sense, changed the entire franchise.
It acknowledged the passage of time, arguably for
the first time ever, in the series. It acknowledged
that they are mortal, that they are going to age and
probably die. (Craigs Bond would do exactly
that, another first, in 2021s No Time to Die.)
