WWE
ID: New Path for Indie Wrestlers
WWE
has recently introduced the WWE ID program, which
stands for WWE Independent Development. This initiative
is designed to create a pathway for independent wrestlers
to potentially transition into a career with WWE.
Here's what has been shared about the program:
Purpose
and Structure: WWE ID aims to identify and nurture
talent from the independent wrestling scene. It involves:
Designating Independent Schools: Prominent indie wrestling
schools receive an official WWE ID designation, enhancing
their training programs with WWE's resources.
Prospect Designation: Top indie wrestlers are marked
with a WWE ID "prospect" tag, indicating
WWE's interest and providing them with support in
their development.
Benefits
for Wrestlers and Schools:
Training and Development: Participants gain access
to world-class facilities, expert coaching, and mentorship.
Financial Support: Financial opportunities are provided
to support the wrestlers' development.
Visibility: WWE will showcase these prospects and
their journeys through social media and other platforms,
increasing their exposure.
Initial
Schools Designated: The first schools to receive the
WWE ID designation include:
Reality of Wrestling (Houston) Nightmare Factory (Atlanta)
Black and Brave Academy (Davenport, Iowa) Elite Pro
Wrestling Training Center (Concord, N.H.) KnokX Pro
Academy (Los Angeles)
Public
and Community Response: There's been a mix of excitement
and cautious optimism within the wrestling community.
Some see it as a great opportunity for indie wrestlers
to get recognized and supported by WWE, potentially
leading to contracts. Others express concerns about
WWE's influence over the independent scene, wondering
if this could lead to more control by WWE over indie
wrestling narratives.
This
program reflects WWE's ongoing strategy to not only
scout talent but also to enrich the independent wrestling
ecosystem by providing structured support and visibility
to potential stars. However, the long-term impact
on the independence of these schools and wrestlers
remains to be seen, with some community members expressing
concerns over possible strings attached to WWE's support.

Josh
Barnett's Bloodsport
Josh
Barnett's Bloodsport is an independent professional
wrestling event known for its unique ruleset that
emphasizes a more combat sports-oriented style of
wrestling. Here are some key points about it:
Format:
The event usually features a series of matches with
a focus on catch wrestling, shoot-style wrestling,
and other forms of martial arts wrestling. The rules
often mimic those of mixed martial arts or traditional
shootfighting, with less emphasis on traditional pro
wrestling theatrics.
Rules:
Matches typically end by knockout, submission, or
referee stoppage.
There's a strict 20-count for outside the ring, encouraging
action to stay in the ring.
Rounds might have a time limit, but the setup is designed
to promote finishes rather than time limits. Sometimes,
there are variations like first to three falls or
other stipulations to keep the matches engaging and
unpredictable.
Founder:
Josh Barnett, a former UFC Heavyweight Champion and
accomplished catch wrestler, organizes this event.
His background in both MMA and professional wrestling
gives Bloodsport its distinctive flavor.
Participants:
The event often features a mix of: Renowned wrestlers
with a strong grappling background.
MMA fighters transitioning into wrestling.
Underground
or independent wrestling stars who specialize in realistic
fight aesthetics.
Venue:
Bloodsport events are typically held at smaller venues
or as part of larger independent wrestling shows,
often linked with promotions like Game Changer Wrestling
(GCW) or as part of larger wrestling festivals.
Philosophy:
The ethos behind Bloodsport is to strip back the often
theatrical elements of pro wrestling to focus on the
sport aspect, showcasing grappling, striking, and
realistic combat scenarios. This approach aims to
appeal to fans of both professional wrestling and
MMA.
Cultural
Impact: While it's niche, Bloodsport has gained a
cult following for its authenticity and for providing
a platform for wrestlers to showcase more legitimate
fighting skills within the context of professional
wrestling.

Zuckerberg
took to his own platform Instagram to accept Musks

As

Sydney
| What happens when two maladjusted billionaires tire

all year, and at the same time strangely unsurprising
... Facebook supremo Mark Zuckerberg and tech behemoth

In
what started as a joke response by Mr Musk in a Twitter
discussion about Facebooks plan to compete directly
with Twitter on Wednesday, where he wrote Im
up for a cage match if he is lol, ... the ridiculous
inability to admit to not being a tough guy has spiralled
into a surreal situation where they will actually
climb into a ring together if neither of them backs
down.
Mr
Zuckerbergs Instagram feed is currently led
by a video of him rolling round doing jiu jitsu with
a world champion fly weight, and he posted on his
own account that Mr Musk should Send me location,

Egged
on by followers and US reporters to respond, Mr Musk
posted on Twitter on Thursday that If this is

spectacle now looming as a reality.
The
story speaks for itself, Meta spokeswoman Iska

As
it stands, Mr Musk has Tweeted that the fight should

The
WWE used to have PPV (Pay-Per-View) events but over
the past few years migrated over to a PLE (Premium

The

are known to change "mobs" and promoters

Foxtel
Group Becomes Exclusive Provider Of UFC Pay Per View
Events In Australia
New
Multi-Year Agreement Gives Foxtel and ayo Sports Subscribers
Exclusive Access to Purchase UFCs Biggest Events
2023
UFC,
the worlds premier mixed martial arts organization,
and Foxtel Group today announced a new multi-year
agreement that will make Foxtel and Kayo Sports the
exclusive distributor of all UFC Pay Per Views in
Australia.
Starting
in January 2024, all UFC Pay Per View events will
be broadcast exclusively on Main Event on Foxtel and
Kayo Sports, while Foxtel will also remain the exclusive
UFC Commercial Pay Per View provider through its commercial
arm Foxtel for Business. The agreement extends UFCs
long-standing relationship with Foxtel Group, which
first began broadcasting UFC programming in 2008.
I
am excited that we are extending our broadcast partnership
with Foxtel Group, said UFC President, Dana
White. Foxtel and Kayo Sports are the best sports
broadcasters in the country, and they have backed
UFC in Australia since the beginning. Together, we
will continue to grow UFC in Australia, and they will
be the destination for the biggest and baddest fights
we put on year-round. I cant wait to get back
to Sydney for UFC 293 this September. See you then
Australia!
Foxtel
Group CEO, Patrick Delany, said: For 15 years
we have been bringing the biggest UFC fights to Australian
audiences and this new agreement will extend and elevate
that partnership on the cusp of a golden era for the
sport. UFC boasts one of the youngest fan bases of
any professional sport in the country and its
exciting to continue our partnership with a brand
that has such enormous growth potential both
at home and abroad. Its the perfect match for
our more than 3 million sports subscribers streaming
on Kayo Sports and Foxtel.
Following
a three-year absence, UFC returned to Australia earlier
this year in February with UFC 284: MAKHACHEV VS.
VOLKANOVSKI at RAC Arena in Perth. The event recorded
a gate of AUS $5.8M (USD $3.9M), making it the highest-grossing
event ever for any arena in Australia. Ten fighters
from Australia and New Zealand appeared on the card,
including current UFC Featherweight Champion Alexander
The Great Volkanovski, Jack Della Maddalena,
Justin Tafa, Jimmy Crute, Joshua Culibao, and Jamie
Mullarkey, highlighting the level of MMA talent in
UFC from the region.
Following
this hugely successful return, UFC will cement its
commitment to the market with UFC 293 scheduled to
take place on Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney on Sunday,
September 10. The event will mark UFCs first
return to Sydney since 2017 and its first Pay Per
View in Sydney since 2011. UFCs return to Sydney
is a result of its new partnership with the New South
Wales (NSW) Government through its Tourism and Events
agency Destination NSW and will be the first of three
Pay-Per-View events to be held in Sydney over the
next four years.
UFCs
popularity has soared since it was first broadcast
in Australia in 2008. There are now more than 700
million UFC fans across the globe, including a total
of 243 million followers across UFCs social
media channels. In Australia and New Zealand combined,
UFC counts more than 4.3 million fans and 6 million
social media followers and features one of the youngest
fan bases of any professional sport in Australia,
with 48% aged between 18-39.
Since
2010, UFC has presented 16 live events in Australia,
including sold-out shows at Sydneys Qudos Bank
Arena, Melbournes Rod Laver Arena, Perth Arena,
Brisbane Entertainment Centre, Adelaide Entertainment
Centre and Gold Coast Convention Centre. These events
have had a combined attendance of over 280,000 fans,
with millions more watching on Pay Per View and broadcast
television globally.
