AWF WOLLONGONG WARFARE 2004
PRO-WRESTLING RETURNS TO THE ILLAWARRA
The Australian Wrestling Federation returns to Woonona
Bulli RSL on Sunday 6 June with an action packed live
professional wrestling event that is sure to rock
the foundations of the Illawarra.
AWF
will present an evening of hard hitting pro-wrestling,
incorporating a variety of styles from around the
world, in various match formats, that will entertain
and captivate the live audience in 2 hours of non
stop action.
Wrestlers
from NSW and Victoria will be competing as part of
the event, and included amongst them will be local
Wollongong resident Glenn The Captain
Balliana. The Captain says It is
going to be good to have the home court advantage
for the first time. I hope the supporters of sport
in Wollongong will come along and rally with me in
my battle with Sydneys Kid Dynamite. I am training
hard, and with the crowd on my side I think it may
just make the difference.
Along
with a strong undercard, the show will climax with
the main event showcase of the very first Australasian
Title defence for newly crowned AWF Champion, High
Flying Mark Hilton. Hilton won the Championship
in a Tournament Final on 17 April, 2004 by defeating
Tony Kebab, Dean Draven and TNT in a Final Four Elimination
bout at Cessnock, NSW. Hilton is a martial arts black
belt, a stuntman, and now the AWF Australasian Champion.
His credentials and dedication make him a world caliber
star, and his first defence against Challenger TNT
will be an occasion not to be missed by all fans of
action.
So wrestling fans of the Illawarra, we urge you to
come along and support the Australian Wrestling Federation,
so as it can return as a regular fixture of the area
in the future. The evening will be an event suitable
for the whole family, and is sure to be a memorable
night, so we advise to book early to avoid disappointment.

AWF Australasian Champion Mark Hilton. This bout will
mark Hiltons first title defence.

Victorian Mad Dog Mcrea.

Sat 17 April, 2004
Cessnock Supporters Club, Cessnock, NSW, Australia
Crowd: 175
An
enthusiastic crowd turned out for a historic night
of Australian wrestling, as the third Australasian
Champion was crowned, plus on the undercard some new
AWF stars shined and continued to develop.
Results
from the event were as follows:
- Kid Dynamite pinned Spike Steele with a top rope
splash after a distraction from TNT, and interference
by Nuclear Blast.
-
3 Way Bout: Future Shock won over PC Virus and Scott
Howitt. Fall one saw PC nailed low by Shock after
a miscue, and then Howitt score a quick legdrop for
the pin. Shock then scored the win thereafter with
a PC computer shot. PC and Shock then formed an alliance
and beat Howit down afterwoods.
- Krackerjack pinned Billy Flyswat with a throw up
backbreaker in an entertaining bout.
-
Gravity & Brody Neville defeated The Captain &
Teen Wolf. Finish saw Teen Wolf walk out on the cocky
Captain, with Gravity capitalizing and scoring with
a top rope senton splash, followed by a Brody footy
tackle for the win. Crowd was behind local Brody.
-
Mad Dog Mcrea pinned Steve Ravenous with a roll up
and feet on the ropes.
-
Final 4 Way Elimination: Draven pinned Kebab with
the top rope headbutt to take the first fall... TNT
pinned Draven with the Detonator for the second fall
after Kebab smashed Draven with the belt. Draven and
Kebab brawled to the back... Mark Hilton pinned TNT
to win the AWF Australasian Championship with a top
rope shooting star press after approximately 20 minutes
of action. Hilton thanked the fans and vows he will
be a fighting champion.
NEWS
BRIEFS
-
High Flying Mark Hilton is the new AWF
Australasian Champion after winning the Final 4 Elimination
Bout for the Gold at Cessnock on 17 April... Hilton
not one to rest on his laurels says that he is going
to train even harder now he is champ, and is looking
to outlast TNTs over a year reign as AWF Champion,
and give fans someone who they can be proud of as
Champion.
Hiltons
first Title defence is against TNT at Woonona Bulli
RSL on June 6.
-
Dean Draven and Tony Kebab will contest for the number
1 contenders spot at Woonona on 6 June, with the winner
facing Mark Hilton or TNT at an upcoming event. There
appears to be no love lost between Kebab and Draven
as the two brawled to the back after the 4 way encounter
at Cessnock, and both men claim they cost each other
the AWF Title through underhanded means. The score
will be settled on 6 June.
-
The Detonation Crew continued to grow at Cessnock,
as TNT unveiled his new head of security, Nuclear
Blast... Blast stands 6 foot 4 inches and is 125 kilos
of hard muscle, and is without doubt the most impressive
physical specimen on the Australian Wrestling circuit.
Immediately Big Nuke made his presence
felt, as he interfered in the Kid Dynamite versus
Spike Steele match, swaying the match to Dynamites
side on more than one occasion, eventually giving
the Kid an opening via a brutal chair shot, to pin
Steele. Blast no doubt will give opponents of TNT
and Kid Dynamite much to look out for in upcoming
bouts.
-
Get well wishes go out to big Steve Ravenous who injured
his leg recently whilst training. Steve is expected
to be sidelined for a few months with the leg injury,
and will not be able to wrestle on upcoming AWF cards.
We wish Steve a quick, healthy and full recovery,
and look forward to seeing him back in action after
his rehabilitation.
-
PC Virus and The Future Shock have finally buried
the hatchet in their ongoing feud, and have joined
forces. The two publicly united at Cessnock after
rookie Scott The Club Howitt put up a
fighting effort against them in a recent 3 way dance.
After Virus was upset with an out of nowhere pin,
Shock showed his true colours and took advantage of
a PC keyboard attack and scored the win. Afterwoods
Shock invited PC to brutalise Howitt and embarrass
the rookie. The team seems hell bent on destroying
the up and coming young AWF talent, that are impressing
AWF fans, possibly more than them... Furthermore to
the alliance, it appears that Virus Shock
have possibly aquired the services of the Webmistress
as their manager as the trio are teamed at Wollongong
Warfare to team against a group of rookies. Only time
will tell.
-
The European Assassin Marek Szathmary
has returned from a trip to his homeland of Slovakia
and will appear on upcoming AWF cards. His recent
trip home saw him interviewed on the countries top
sports program during prime time, and Slovakia payed
tribute to him by applauding him as the first person
from their land to take on pro-wrestling. There are
plans for AWF to possibly have footage aired on Slovakian
TV in the future as Mareks career continues
to develop.
-
The AWF School of Pro-Wrestling continues to flourish
and welcomes any interested students to come and view
a session... Please contact training@awfwrestling.com.au
or call 0410 691 377 to make arrangements... AWF welcomes
new students Josh, Adam and Christian who have just
been accepted into the school and wish them the best
with their training.
-
Adam Bedford has a torn chest muscle from weight training
and will be out for an unspecified time. We wish him
a speedy recovery.
